For any given crochet project, I need a certain number of tools on hand: not only the obvious crochet hook and yarn, but also various notion including stitch markers, yarn needles, scissors, as well as a copy of my pattern and a pen. After nearly 2 years of storing most of these tools in ziploc baggies and frequently losing things, I finally came up with a compact solution.

Organizing the Crafty Way, Part 1

Organization can always be a problem with craft supplies. That awesome storage container is perfect for everything except that one odd-shaped tool. Your to-go supply bag is unwieldy, but the next size down can’t hold the supplies needed for that project. You bookmarked 20 patterns but you just can’t find that one that you need. Obviously the only cures for this are to spend oodles of cash on cases specially designed for your craft or make your own.

NiftyGift

My niece turned 11 last week, and me being the poor mostly jobless person that I am, I decided that I needed to make a present for her. It would have been easy enough to whip up something for her using crochet, but she doesn’t really wear any scarves or hats in winter, and I didn’t have time to really look into finding something that she would actually use. So I put her present in the back of my mind and went about my day.
